Points of Single Contact (PSCs)

A Point of Single Contact (PSC – Einheitliche Ansprechpartner, EAP) is a central contact point for administrative matters. As a digital web-based service, a PSC offers not only all kinds of information about the procedures and requirements for your current concern, but also the opportunity to go through all the steps for dealing with it online. A PSC offers citizens and businesses a combined point of contact for all the agencies involved in the matter in hand. This is particularly useful when it comes to cross-border transactions. That is why the EU Services Directive envisages PSCs in every member state.

How does the PSC work as a digital web-based service?

The EU Services Directive regulates the cross-border provision of services within the European Union. PSCs make it easier for service providers from other member states to meet all the conditions and requirements in their destination country. As a digital web-based service, a PSC offers not only all kinds of information and contact details, but also the opportunity to go through all the steps online – and all on one website. Austrians wishing to provide a service in other EU states can use the service portal of the relevant member state to find the right equivalent points of contact. A useful Overview Page helps them to find the right PSC quickly. The Austrian service portal can be found at eap.gv.at. Since services in different federal provinces may be regulated differently, the Austrian Point of Single Contact directs users to the PSC portals of individual federal provinces.

In particular, a PSC makes it easier to offer cross-border services, which is why it is an integral part of the EU Service Directive. It is easy to find the point of contact by using the service portal of the member state in question.
