Digital Everywhere – Austria's flagship project

The Digital Skills Initiative is dedicated to enhancing basic digital skills in people. In line with this mission we have introduced the initiative Digital Überall ("Digital Everywhere"): a nationwide programme offering free workshops tailored to the needs of digital beginners, delivered by a variety of adult education providers throughout Austria.

Digital Everywhere ("Digital Überall")

A total of 4,500 free "Digital Everywhere" workshops are organised to support the people with digitisation. The workshops address five primary topics: digital education for senior citizense-governmentonline safetyliving with increasing digitisation, and artificial intelligence.

For further details on workshop offerings and to book directly with a provider (online or by phone) we invite you to explore our workshop database. New workshops will be added on a regular basis. Note: The workshops will be held in german.

Since the end of June 2025 municipalities have also been able to book up to 3 free workshops. The process is simple and unbureaucratic: after selecting a "Digital überall" workshop the municipality submits a booking request to the adult education provider via the booking platform. A date is then agreed upon. All the municipality has to do is provide a suitable venue and take care of the communication with the participants.

Austria wins gold for „Digital Everywhere“

In September 2024 Austria’s Digital Skills Initiative (DKO) earned first place in the „Administration Transformation“ category at the prestigious „eGovernment-Wettbewerb“ by BearingPoint and Cisco. This competition measures e-government progress in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland and rewards innovative projects that drive sustainable modernisation of public administration. Austria's Digital Skills Initiative impressed the jury with its user-focused approach.

„Digital Skills for All,“ the pilot project for „Digital Everywhere,“ was even among the finalists for the European Digital Skills Awards in 2024.
The following year, „Digital Everywhere“ was submitted for the European Digital Skills Awards and also made it into the top five finalists and was chosen as the winner in the category “Inclusion in the digital world.”
